Singapore might be a small country but as a city-state it is essentially one big city and you want to choose your hotel strategically, especially when bringing kids along.
Both public transport and ride sharing are very convenient and easily accessible but time spent going places can quickly add up: Pick a hotel in a neighbourhood you want to explore by foot and also lets you go to other sights easily. The weather is yearround warm and I am quite sure, you and the kids will enjoy a pool at the hotel.

Bugis/Civic District - walk out the front door and explore. Very close to the bayfront, at the center of several interesting neighbourhoods and a couple of parks in walking distance.
Orchard - best choice if you want do some serious shopping. Very well connected to all parts of Singapore, all kind of food options close by. Key attractions are 4-5 MRT stops away.
Clarke Quay - another central location right along the river with lovely riverfront eating and a vibrant nightlife.
Sentosa - for a more resort-beachy vibe. You still got good access to the city but most importantly, you have almost endless fun options to entertain the kids. With smaller children, I would choose this as a second base after exploring the town from a more central hotel. It is a great option to chill a few days at the beach.
Grand Hyatt
Oh the pool! I don't think I've ever seen a better pool oasis than this. Steps away from Orchard road for epic shopping and also the subway to get around.
JEN Singapore Orchardgateway
Really good value for money and you get to enjoy lovely city views from their rooftop pool.
Shangri-La Singapore
Now this one is a bit of a splurge, but the kids facilities are fantastic and the rooms spacious. Think kids club, kids areas in the pool, toiletries and bathrobes for kids, etc, etc. There are a couple of stunning themed family rooms as well.
Lyf Funan
I love a studio type hotelroom when travelling with (small) kids. The kitchenette just offers some more flexibility around feeding the family, especially when jetlag enters the game. Lyf offers a choice from studios to bigger apartment.
Swissotel The Stamford
Probably the best location if you want to explore a maximum on foot or by public transport. Seriously consider paying the extra for those Marina Bay rooms.
21 Carpenter
A lovely design hotel housed in a historic building. Strictly more on the Clarke Quay side, but still a very central location at a very affordable price.
The Fullerton
Now here you get the frontrow bay views but it's also busy at pretty much all times here. You and the kids will have to embrace it but the reward are awesome views at anytime of the day.
Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa
This hotel is made for families: It features several pools with slides and entertainment, a private beach, a play room, daily animation and a free ice cream in the afternoon. Restaurants are also very well equipped for kids.
Resorts World Hotel Ora
Perfect to explore all the Resorts World attractions: Universal Studios, aquariums, Adventure Cove Waterpark. You are staying in an amusement park and won't have to worry about food options for kids and lots of shopping too. It has the least beach feeling on Sentosa. If you want to wake up and walk to the ocean, pick one of the other options.
The Outpost
A very central and relatively affordable option, it is my top choice for kids entertainment. ResortsWorld is easly accessible via shuttle train, KidZania, Hyperdrive, Skyline Luge, Sensoryscape and splashparks are right at your doorstep. On the downside you will have to walk a bit to go to the beach. The restaurant at the hotel feel a bit limited but there are lots of choices close by.
W Sentosa
I rarely stayed at W since having my little one, because I feel it's more suitable for adults and maybe teenagers. But this one on Sentosa has all the necessities plus a great pool with slides for kids.
